Facebook rolls out new Brand Page design – (courtesy of Wildfire)

by Cheryl Wolhar - MyVineSpace on February 15, 2011

Many of you have already noticed that Facebook has changed the layout design on your Fan Pages (Brand Pages) and since I have been asked by a few of my clients to help them understand these changes, I decided to post this article that I just found from Wildfire that describes all the changes in great detail.

Many of the features are similar to the changes Facebook recently made to our profile pages like the photos strip along the top however, the new feature I like the most is that you can now choose to interact with your page and other pages as yourself or as your brand.  This is a great new feature that was sorely needed.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had customers tell me that they want to be able to post on their page as themselves but still have admin rights to the page.  This feature solves that problem.

I am not so sure I like the new navigation menu on the left sidebar rather than the tabs across the top, however there is a way to code your own custom tabs on a page that I can implement now that the Facebook tabs are gone.  You can read more about all the new features on the link below.

You can read more about the new Brand Page features here.

25 Ways to Get More Social Media Followers

by Cheryl Wolhar - MyVineSpace on December 20, 2010

Here’s a new post from HubSpot with 25 tips on how to get more social media followers. If your not following HubSpot.com already I highly recommend them as a social media resource.  They tend to focus on lead generation which does not apply directly to the wine industry, however, I have found their social media tips to be very useful. This is a great basic check list for you to use and review from time to time.  They make some great recommendations’ that you should consider if you haven’t already.  Many of them we have implemented on MyVineSpace already and for some of our clients as well.  I am intrigued by Number 16 which is to hide content on a custom Facebook tab that they can only get if they “Like” you.  I’ve include a few of my other favorites below:
Enable Social Sharing
Add buttons to your blog and even other website pages that allow visitors to share your content on social sites like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Some services like Tweetmeme allow you to add RT @YOURUSERNAME to the end of each tweet shared from your site, so that would help you get more followers.
