Big Basin Launches Tantalizing Tastes

by Laura Ness - HerVineNess on October 29, 2010

FV-Front-2008Big Basin Vineyards announces the new “Tantalizing Tastes: Food & Wine Pairings” program. Wine lovers are invited to enjoy a selection of Big Basin’s highly acclaimed wines along with gourmet patés from one of the Bay Area’s leading purveyors of authentic French delicacies, Fabriques Delices. Big Basin is proud to offer these superb products to complement their rich selection of handcrafted mountain-grown Pinot and Syrah.

Winemaker Bradley Brown is also offering a vertical of his exceptional Fairview Syrahs. Showcasing vintages 2006 thru 2008, these stunning and powerful Syrahs hail from the Fairview Road Ranch vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Here, the relentless cooling winds from the Monterey Bay combine with the long, often dry growing season to create wines of great character and intensity.

All three vintages of Fairview Road Ranch Syrah display a signature aroma of white pepper and intense spice: these flavors carry over to the palate, where their fine tannins and robust structure contribute to an opulent, mouth-filling wine meant to be savored with the rich full-bodied fare of autumn.

The three-wine vertical tasting flight of Fairview Syrah is available for $5. Wines are available by the glass for $11.50, and retail for $39 per bottle. A three-bottle set is available for 10% off the retail price, while supplies last.

The BigBasin Tasting room at Big Basin Way in uptown Saratoga Villageis open Thurs thru Mon, 11 til 5pm, and til 7pm on Friday and Saturdayl

Healthy Kids Fundraiser Today at Fogarty Features Local Wines

by Laura Ness - HerVineNess on September 26, 2010

Help raise money to insure that underprivileged kids have access to the preventive health care services that will put them on the right path to productivity and success. Eight years ago, 1 out of 8 children in Santa Clara County were without health coverage. Through programs like Healthy Kids, this number has been reduced to 1 out of 33, or 3%. However, the economy is negatively impacting the children in our community – every day parents are losing health coverage and the budget cuts to programs continue. Supporting Healthy Kids is just one way the community can make a real difference now, and for the future.
The Santa Clara Valley Health Foundation invites you to attend their 9th annual fundraiser today, Sunday, Sept 26, from 1pm til4pm at the beautiful Thomas Fogarty winery on Skyline Blvd in Woodside.
Participating wineries include Aver Family Vineyards, Big Basin Vineyards, Burrell School Vineyards, Clos LaChance Winery, Duckhorn Vineyards, Far Niente, Frog’s Leap Winery, Kathryn Kennedy, Kings Mountain Winery, Loma Prieta Winery, Poetic Cellars, Rombauer Vineyards, and Thomas Fogarty Winery. Award-winning restaurant, Le Papillon of San José, will provide gourmet food to enjoy.
Live and silent auction items will include large format bottles, winery tours, cases of [...]
