by Laura Ness - HerVineNess on June 10, 2010

Visit the Summit to Sea Wineries this weekend and get your Corky the Wine Whale tS2S_whale_iconattoos! Perfect accent for summer fashions.

Vintner’s Festival in the Santa Cruz Mountains continues for a second weekend, June 12 and 13th, with lots of great food, wine and fun for wine lovers. Visitors to these wineries will get Corky the Wine Whale tattoos: the perfect way to accent those summer fashions. Buy Vintner’s Festival glasses at the wineries or reserve online at scmwa.com

Burrell School on Summit Road will offer live music, vineyard tours, complimentary appetizers, picnic tables and special tastings. If there’s a special grad or Dad in your life, Burrell School suggests this is an ideal time to give a bottle of Valedictorian, Dean’s List Cabernet or Honor Roll Merlot. Of course, if you want to have some fun with Dad, how about a bottle of Detention Zin?

Loma Prieta Winery will have barrel samples, tastes of library wines, live music with guitarist Mark Abdilla on Sunday, jewelry by Elizabeth Moon, Viognier specially priced at $19 (reg $22), bocce ball on top of the world, complimentary appetizers and sweeping coastal views. Wine makes a great gift for all these occasions. The smooth 2007 Loma Prieta Cabernet is sure to please the sophisticated palate, and the 2008 Saveria Pinot Noir is a tangy medley of coastal strawberry and rhubarb fruit with a tingle of cranberry and ocean spray.

Poetic Cellars offers a beautiful setting for picnics, a great variety of wines- don’t miss the stunning 2007 Chardonnay, plus new releases, including the 2007 vintage of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. If you need a gift for a graduating lit major, consider Poetic Cellars “Ballad,” a harmonic blend of Bordeaux varietals. If Dad needs a little Zen in his life, a bottle of Poetic Cellars “Mantra” might be just what he needs.
Winemaker Katy Lovell will also be pouring Poetic Cellars wines at La Fondue in Saratoga both days.
