Have you ever seen a wine barrel burn? Do you enjoy barrel tasting? This is your chance to do both. Come to the beautiful redwoods of Boulder Creek and enjoy a special day of tasting – and toasting! Big Basin Vineyards winemaker and proprietor, Bradley Brown, is excited about the wines from the 2009 vintage, and wants to share a glimpse of what this potentially very good grape growing year promises to deliver.
Visit the winery on February 28th to enjoy a sneak preview of a hand-picked selection of the nascent 2009s, as well as some of the rapidly maturing 2008s that are approaching the time when they will be ready to bottle. Bradley will select samples from four different barrels that will give you a taste of what is to come. He will also be pouring tastes of several finished wines that are presently available including the supple and luscious 2007 Santa Cruz/Monterey Syrah, the complex and mysterious 2007 Bald Mountain Pinot Noir (only a few cases remain), and the exceptionally bold and peppery 2007 Fairview Road Ranch Syrah. In celebration of this special tasting, Bradley will burn a couple of old barrels – an entertaining and beautiful sight.
Big Basin Vineyards will also be participating in a number of upcoming wine tastings, including World of Pinot, Pinot Paradise, Rhone Rangers and Hospice du Rhone. Mark your calendars for the Spring Release Celebration, which will take place on April 3rd and 4th at the winery in Boulder Creek.
And please, use these directions for the quickest routes to the winery – otherwise, you will get lost.
