When you want a good dining recommendation, it’s always smart to ask a local. In that spirit, two veteran journalists and long-time SF residents, Jules and Effin Older, have created an iPhone app called San Francisco Restaurants. It featues 75-or-so of their favorite San Francisco Bay Area restaurants. They’ve avoided the tourist traps, concentrating instead on great food at outstanding values. As Jules says, “The best food in San Francisco isn’t on Fisherman’s Wharf — it’s in the little ethnic restaurants where San Franciscans eat.”
The app is available on iPhone or iPod Touch. It costs 99 cents.
You can get it from the App Store on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
If you’re iPhone-less, you can buy it from the iTunes Store here.
San Francisco Restaurants, the Movie:
Jules describes it as “the anti-Yelp. Not plagued by enraged, empowered, anonymous young men and then countered by restaurant chefs, owners and investors, San Francisco Restaurants is written by an uncorruptible food & travel writer, shot by a widely published food & travel photographer.”
So, don’t Yelp. get real help from your iPhone: you’ll be glad you did!
