Conservation Viticulture at Pipestone Vineyards

by Cheryl Wolhar - MyVineSpace on October 24, 2009

pipestonePipestone Vineyards in Templeton is an incredible example of conservation viticulture.  You can watch their video here.  As a Environmental Engineer and Hydro Geologist Vineyard Owner Jeff Pipes has seen all the damage that dumping of hazardous waste was doing to the earth.  He started his vineyard with the goal not rely on petro chemicals and to create an environment that is good for the soil and good for the environment. Watch video of Vineyard owner Jeff plowing his vineyard using draft horses.

For obvious reasons we definitely need to add Pipestone to our list of wineries to visit during our Paso #tweetup in November.   I hope that Pipestone is ready for a bunch of tweeps to descend on his vineyard…
